Who are we?

Madrona Venture Labs (MVL) is the startup studio and incubation arm of Madrona Venture Group, the leading venture capital firm in the Pacific Northwest. We build ambitious, innovative companies in AI-driven applications, automation, digital transformation of consumer experiences, and the future of work. Our team hustles and builds alongside new founders to turn their ideas into venture-scale businesses.

Life here is fast-paced, challenging, full of growth opportunities, and a whole lot of fun. If you are passionate about entrepreneurship, MVL is the ideal environment to learn the fundamentals of building a technology company.

Who are you?

As an MBA intern with MVL, you will get a seat at the table as our team scales out initial ideas and businesses at the cutting edge of technology. This will be a hands-on learning experience where you will contribute to many crucial activities involved with starting and running venture-backed companies, including exposure to product sprints, ideation sessions, customer interviews, and business planning.

Our internship runs for ten weeks over the summer for 40 hours weekly. We expect interns to operate in-person with our team in Seattle three days a week, with the option to work remotely two days a week. Upon acceptance, you will be paired with a specific MVL team partner and report directly to them.

  • Develop and drive momentum on a compelling, early-stage concept through MVL’s customer validation process. This includes identifying industry trends, conducting customer interviews, assessing competitive landscapes, and sharing findings with the MVL team.
  • Refine our company-creation strategy and investment thesis in emerging investment spaces. Stay up-to-date on technological enhancements and applications, especially those related to GenAI.
  • Participate in regular meetings and activities with the MVL core team.

Qualifications

  • Creative thinker who thrives on problem-solving and embraces ambiguity.
  • Intense intellectual curiosity about emerging technologies, including GenAI.
  • Current MBA student with a passion for entrepreneurship and a desire to work at or found a startup in the future.
  • Exceptional research skills and the ability to distill complex topics succinctly.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator; able to successfully engage with startup CEOs, venture capitalists, and startup studio operators.
  • Experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, M&A, or technology startups. Familiarity with enterprise applications strongly preferred but not required.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week in our Seattle office for at least ten weeks during the summer.
